Summer arrives and the season of SOL begins and it is when we expose our whole body to the solar rays with the consequences of burns that degenerate our skin. And this is what we talk about today in the blog of The MadRoom.
Many times due to laziness or nonchalance we do not protect the skin properly, or in other cases due to uncontrolled exposure and this leads to the consequence of burns. Many times these burns are slight but they should not be ignored or trivialized, as they can become complicated. That's why you have to know that you must take care of yourself afterwards to regenerate the skin.
Sunburn occurs after overexposure to ultraviolet B rays and causes symptoms instantly or even after 72 hours. Normally, they are mild erythema with scaling, accompanied by pain and, depending on the case, with blisters.
Our first recommendation, always wear sunscreen and apply it half an hour before sun exposure. Even if you are not going to drink and sun, but you are going to walk with short-sleeved clothes, you should apply it.
But what we are going to talk about today is how to regenerate the skin after having suffered a burn.
At the time of the burn, the first thing is to apply cold water for several minutes, since it limits its expansion and relieves pain. Then it must be covered with a sterile dressing and a healing cream.
And once the skin is better and only shows symptoms of redness we must apply a repair creamin order to help our skin regenerate. It must be a cream with active ingredients such as sucralfate, copper and zinc oxide.
Important, we must flee from home remedies and everything that contains local anesthetics (benzocaine) and other sensitizing drugs, since there is a risk of allergic contact dermatitis.
We apply the selected cream on the burned area and let it take effect for about ten minutes. Then, we can apply some AfterSun to hydrate and bring relief to the skin.
We must repeat these care not only until the redness disappears but for 28 days since that is the period that our skin takes to regenerate naturally.
But not only do you have to apply a cream, you have to carry out several measures, such as not exposing the burned skin to the sun. Advice that is difficult to follow in the middle of the summer season, but if you are going to do it, please apply a specific sunscreen based on mineral assets that are not absorbed and do not cause stinging.
And on the other hand, we can help this process skin regenerator taking care of ourselves from within with food.
- Foods rich in Vitamin E:acts against cellular oxidation and helps the regeneration of the skin (broccoli, spinach, egg yolk, oats …)
- Fruits with Vitamin C:helps us stimulate the production of collagen (mango, red fruits, kiwi …)
- Foods rich in Beta-carotene:they act as a natural cell repair and prevents the skin from dehydrating (carrot, pumpkin, apricot, peach …)
- Water:Drinking about 2 liters of water daily helps the skin tissues to be well hydrated.

And finally, once the redness and skin discomfort have completely disappeared and as a perfect complement you can have some specific treatment in the cabin, such as the Natura Bissé “DiamondRose” body treatment that exfoliates, nourishes and regenerates the skin. Or the facial treatment "S.O.S. Sensitivity ”for skin that is sensitized or the“ AquaInmersion ”treatment based on the“ 3R ”philosophy: renewal, recovery and repair.
All these are our tips from The MadRoom Madrid but as the saying goes "prevention is better than cure" so don't go out on the street or go to the beach without your sunscreen.
